I may not say to you with my words
How much, my dear, you mean to me
But my heart sings its own sweet verse
One day you will hear its song, maybe…
Pouring down like drops of rain, you came
A glance of yours made me ask your name
O! The one laughing like a flower
Your beauty seems to have a lot of power
To walk with you, my legs plead me
To talk to you, my heart leads me
Silently, when often to myself I speak
Your thoughts seem to reach their peak
Oh my beloved, I ask of thee
Will you spend your life with me?
Well…..5000 hits and I’m back again! 🙂 🙂 ….life has been pretty good in the new year……a LOT of things have changed, and changed for good! :)….I also managed to catch up with a book called “The 3 mistakes of my Life” by Chetan Bhagat. I have always liked the way Chetan Bhagat writes. The characterization in his novels is very realistic, and the element of humour that he brings in makes for some interesting reading!
This book is about a young boy named Govind Patel, who hails from Ahmedabad. He is shown to be a mathematical genius, who takes maths tuitions to support his mother’s snacks business. Govind is passionate about starting his own business one day, for which he involves his two friends, Omi and Ishaan. Omi is the son of a local priest, and is supposed to be a dull-head. His uncle Bittoo mama belongs to a communal party, and despises Govind for being an antagonist. Ishaan, or Ish as he’s called by everyone, is from a slightly more well-to-do family, and is extremely passionate about cricket. He used to be a champion player in school, and is quite proud of that, but he is not in good terms with his father after having run away from military training. It takes Govind some effort to convince his friends about starting a cricket shop outside Omi’s temple, which is ultimately christened as “Team India Cricket Shop”.
Everything goes well for the Team India Cricket Shop in the beginning…..they begin to make profits very soon, and little kids come to Ish for some free cricket coaching. Ish finds a really talented ‘student’ in Ali, a 12 year old kid who has the extraordinary gift of hitting sixes at will! But things go horribly wrong when nature plays spoilsport, and the 3 budding entrepreneurs now have to face an uphill task of having to rebuild everything. When things start improving, communal riots and hardcore politics make their lives even tougher.
The author manages to bring out the dark realities that exist in Indian society. By referring to real life incidents which took place in Gujarat between 1999 and 2002, he is able to convince the reader that this book is more than just mere fiction. It is a reflection of life during, possibly, India’s worst encounter with communal riots and earthquakes. All characters are life-like, and its quite possible that you will be able to relate to one of them! The love story between Govind and Vidya (who happens to be Ishaan’s younger sister and Govind’s student!) looks a little filmy- but its cute nonetheless 🙂 ….especially the conversation between Govind and Vidya over the phone, when he goes to Australia for Ali’s training.
There are many slack points in the book too. For starters, the whole trip to Australia part is dragged a lot, just to show how much Govind and Vidya miss each other. Also, the climax seems way too dramatic and overboard. The third mistake is also far from convincing. Inspite of all this, “The 3 mistakes…” is one book you would not want to miss! 🙂 ….Chetan Bhagat has once again proved why he is the “biggest-selling English-language novelist in India’s History“! 😎
Megyaan had tagged me sometime back, and this was supposed to be my first tag…..but I guess I couldn’t have done this on a more auspicious day 😀
So on your mark, get set, GO!
1. If your lover betrayed you, what will your reaction be?
I would sing “Tadap Tadap Ke Is Dil se aah nikalti rahi, mujhko sazaa di pyaar ki, aisa kya gunaah kiya…Toh lut gayehhhhhh, haan lut gaye… Toh lut gaye hum teri mohabbat mein 😦 ”
2. If you can have a dream to come true, what would it be?
To be on an isolated beach with a special someone – especially on a moon-lit night ( yea i know its very filmi 😛 )….
One more dream is to take my dad on a world tour…6 years back, my parents took me to Europe during the holidays….now I want to do the same 🙂
3. Whose butt would you like to kick?
Hmmmm….there are many….Himesh Reshammiya tops the list I guess….
4. What would you do with a billion dollars?
Convert it to rupees.
5. Will you fall in love with your best friend?
Sure, as long as Kanthaa-ben is not around 😀
6. Which is more blessed, loving someone or being loved by someone?
Being loved by the one you love- I think that’s the best thing that can happen to a person…. just knowing that there is someone who adores you as much as you do brings in a lot more joy and colour to life 🙂
7. How long do you intend to wait for someone you really love?
Till 12 a.m …I usually go to sleep after that! 🙂
But on a more serious note, my heart would tell me to wait forever, whereas my mind would tell me to move on……..
8. If the person you secretly like is already attached, what would you do?
I would make her tie me a rakhi so that I can still love her, although in a different way.
9. If you like to act with someone, who will it be? Your gf/bf or an actress/actor?
Most definitely my gf ! …and if my gf is also an actress, then nothing like it ( Teri Ore… Teri Ore… Teri Ore… Hai Rabba 🙂 )
10. What takes you down the fastest?
The gravitational pull of the earth. ( If I can trust my memory, the value of acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 metres/second squared, which is quite a big number 😛 )
11. How would you see yourself in ten years time?
Hmmmm…..as happy as I am today……recruiting many freshers from MSRIT to work in my company 🙂
12. What’s your fear?
Staying alone at home for long hours, although I am quite used to it by now.

Very energetic, very talkative! 😀

Happily married but poor 🙂
15. What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
Try to remember which song I was singing in my dream 😀
16. Would you give all in a relationship?
Totally. I think this is the second thing I fear- giving in more than required.
17. If you fall in love with two people simultaneously, who would you pick?
Pretty simple. The one who loves me too….and if both love me, then I’ll toss a coin! 😀
18. Would you forgive and forget no matter how horrible a thing that special someone has done?
If its really horrible, then I don’t think so.
19. Do you prefer being single or having a relationship?
I like doing new things. So after playing domestic matches for 21 years, I don’t mind making my debut in International matches now 😀
