A long period of boredom and a feeling of idleness prompted me and my friend Hari to do something different to ‘waste our time usefully’ 🙂 …so we decided to visit the new Bengaluru International Airport, popularly known as BIAL. We started at 1.30 pm from Majestic, which is the city’s central bus terminus. An air-conditioned Volvo bus is what we boarded, and it looked pretty impressive. The bus was more or less empty at that time, and it cost us only Rs. 125 to reach our destination.
Since it was afternoon, the traffic on Bellary road was significantly lesser, which made for a very smooth ride. It took us only 45 minutes to reach the airport, and I was very much impressed with the approach roads to the airport …made me feel like I am in a foreign country 🙂 …finally, we got down right in front of the huge glass-structured terminal….there was not much we could do there, apart from getting a slight view of the interiors, but the fact that we actually came till there was exciting! After spending about half an hour observing passengers arriving at, and departing from the airport, we decided to make the return journey, as it was already 3 and we were damn hungry! So we took another of those luxury volvo buses (the frequency is amazing!) and reached the city in about an hour….looking forward to the time I’ll actually be inside the airport and see if its as impressive as it looks from outside 🙂
