Astrology…this is one subject which has always intrigued me…..right from childhood, I used to be very amused by the fact that a change in planetary movements can change the course of our lives, just like how the gravitational pull of the moon causes tides on earth.

Astrological signs represent 12 equal segments or divisions of the zodiac. The 12 zodiac signs, usually referred to as ’sun signs’, are the most common tools that we use to understand our personalities and those of others. In fact, most people who want to know you must have asked you your zodiac sign within he first two meetings! This proves the popularity of the zodiac signs in our lives. The term zodiac stands for animals. Astrologically, it refers to the various patterns formed by the stars in the sky. Each of the 12 zodiac signs is said to have its own unique set of attributes, talents, strengths and weaknesses. Here, I’ll talk about the general characteristics of each sign.

ARIES

Denoted by the Ram, Aries are strong, charismatic, and always on the lookout for new challenges …They are daring by nature and have the necessary guts to carry out a bold initiative. People born under Aries tend to have childlike tendencies, which can be endearing and exasperating at the same time….when their demands are not met, they behave like a baby crying and when they get what they want, they respond to the giver with lots of affection. They are very talkative, and this trait enables them to be good leaders- both in their personal and professional lives. Some of the adjectives one can use with Arians are they are strong, impulsive, competitive, focussed on the present, freedom- loving, extremely frank, impatient, violent, rash, and arrogant. Some famous Arian personalities are Victoria Beckham, Celine Dion, Charlie Chaplin and our very own ‘Babli’ Rani Mukherjee

Arians are generally found to be compatible with Gemini, Leo, Libra, and Scorpio.They have a magnetic attraction which few can resist! They can be wildly flirtatious and enjoy the thrill of a chase. However, they can be rather possessive and jealous of their partners.

TAURUS

Taurus is represented by the fiery Bull (not the stock market one ) …Taureans appreciate beauty in everything around them ranging from the beauty of a simple rosebud or a spider casting its web, to the melodious sounds of Mozart  … They fall into the category of the strong, silent types. Taureans have great inner strength and the capacity to come out of any tough situation unaffected! They are warm-hearted and extremely affectionate. By nature, they have a practical mindset and are not swayed easily by new ideas. However, they can also be jealous and possessive, with a streak of self-indulgence, making them look inflexible. They may not be open to new changes and this makes others see them as being very stubborn ( “The only constant thing in life is change, my Taurean friend )  Some famous Taureans are Queen Elizabeth, William Shakespeare (my favourite ), Leonardo da Vinci….

Taureans generally get along well with Virgo, Capricorn and Taurus. They believe in being open-minded and truthful to their partners and expect the same. The stability of the relationship is of paramount concern to them.

GEMINI

Coming to the Twins! Geminis are very lively and happy by nature. They have the gift of the gab, and can easily market ice to an Eskimo, or camels to a Rajasthani …They have a charming personality, and are more likely to be the centre of attraction in parties, all thanks to their good sense of humour. Most Geminis are endowed with high levels of intelligence, and are likely to be ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’   Their quick and inquisitive minds propel them to dabble in a wide series of subjects but they seldom get deeper into it. However, Geminis can be extremely dual-minded and self-centered…they are likely to say one thing today, and another thing tomorrow! They may start a project with a great deal of enthusiasm but not get round to the end of it. They are restless people with a great deal of nervous energy. Famous Geminis are Marilyn Monroe, Nicole Kidman, Anna Kournikova, Angelina Jolie, Amisha Patel ( the one thing common among all the mentioned names is that they are all extremely gorgeous )

Geminis are most likely compatible with Libra, Aquarius, Aries and Leo. Love is a great adventure for Geminis. They can be big flirts and move from lover to lover easily.

CANCER

The ‘Crabby’ Cancer is ruled by the moon, which makes them moody, responding to the various phases of the moon. The biggest strength of Cancerians is their ability to nurture others. They are fiercely loyal and extremely compassionate, which endears them to their family and friends. They can appear hard on the outside, but this harsh exterior holds a soft and sensitive core that makes them special ( just like a coconut )  Cancerians are the most psychic of the signs. They show a remarkable psychic sensitivity, memories and receptivity to emotional impressions! One of the weaker attributes of Cancerians is jealousy. They can be highly insecure, and always wanting to seek security in their relationships. They hate discipline in any form and generally tend to be chaotic and unorganized. Some well-known Cancerians are Tom Cruise, Sylvester Stallone,and aami Prince of Kolkata Sourav Ganguly

Cancerians are mostly compatible with Taurus and Pisces. They seek warmth and intimacy in their relationships and look for a slow, smouldering relationship.

LEO

Singh is King! …..well, thats what Leos are…the most dominant and extroverted of all the zodiac signs. They are born leaders and exude a personal magnetism that’s difficult to resist. Leos are generally very intelligent and are very likely to occupy positions of power and position. They are ambitious, and are good managers and organizers. They are practical and can get straight to the heart of a problem and work towards solving it.  But Leos can also be very pompous and self-centered. They love bragging ( trust me, they do ) and have a sense of superiority. Leos can also be materialistic to the core. They love attention, and will do anything to get it. Some famous Leos are Napolean Bonaparte, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna…

They are compatible with Aries, Libra, Gemini and Sagittarius. Leos really glow when they are in love and enjoy being admired and pampered.

VIRGO

The intelligent and analytical Virgo! Diligence and perfectionism is what defines a Virgo…They are meticulous with details but in many cases they fail to see the larger picture. They have a compelling need to infuse structure and order into everything they do. Leos prefer to make small scale plans rather than plan grand strategies!   Virgos tend to worry a lot and some of them can end up as hypochondriacs. They prefer to keep their relationships at a superficial level. They can be conservative, harsh and over critical at times. They are supposed to be workaholics, but I am not sure how many Virgos will agree to this   Some well-known personalities under this sign are Mother Teresa, Michael Jackson, Asha Bhonsle, and Vivek Oberoi

Virgos are compatible with Gemini, Pisces and Taurus. They tend to be shy and modest, but beneath this exterior lies a deep sensuality. They tend to fall in love slowly and sweetly.
